Rae’s philosophy in life was “Damn the
torpedos, full speed ahead!”
With her family and good friend, Liz
Taillefer, by her side, Rae who lived every day to the fullest slipped
peacefully away after a long courageous battle with cancer. She will be sadly
missed by her sister, Maxine de Gruijter (Frank), her niece, Deann de Gruijter
(Oleg) and her great nephews, Willem and Marcus Glozanski, who brought her
great joy. A graduate of Western University, Rae was a multi-talented career
woman. She spent many years in the fast paced retail business for Dylex Ltd.
followed by Kember Store Metals and most recently for Dominion Warehousing and
Distribution in sales and marketing.
Rae loved life and her cats, Mindy and
Mork. She was an excellent hostess, great cook, pianist, keen golfer and avid
gardener. According to Rae’s wishes cremation has taken place in her home town
of Collingwood. A celebration of her life will be held at Donway Baptist
Church, 235 The Donway East, Don Mills on June 30, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. For those
who wish, donations may be made in Rae’s name to a charity of your choice. Rae
was an original. She made an impact wherever she went. The fragrance of her
memory will linger on …
